These Terms of Use govern your use of the BuyBrake mobile application. By downloading, accessing, or using BuyBrake, you agree to these Terms.
1. About BuyBrake
BuyBrake is a self-reflection and spending-behavior tool designed to help users pause before making purchases, reflect on impulse-buying decisions, and track savings-related progress.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use BuyBrake. By using BuyBrake, you confirm that you meet this age requirement.
3. Personal Use
BuyBrake is provided for your personal, non-commercial use. You agree to use the app only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms.
4. Not Financial, Legal, Medical, or Mental Health Advice
BuyBrake provides general self-reflection, habit-support, and spending-behavior features only. BuyBrake does not provide financial advice, investment advice, legal advice, tax advice, medical advice, mental health diagnosis, therapy, or treatment.
You are responsible for your own purchasing, financial, and personal decisions. If you need professional advice, you should consult a qualified professional.
5. Your Responsibilities
You agree not to misuse BuyBrake. You agree not to:
- Use the app for unlawful, harmful, fraudulent, or abusive purposes;
- Interfere with or disrupt the operation of the app;
- Attempt to reverse engineer, copy, modify, or create derivative works of the app except as permitted by law;
- Use the app in a way that violates the rights of others;
- Enter unnecessary sensitive information such as passwords, full payment card numbers, bank account numbers, or government identification numbers.
6. User Entries and Local Content
You are responsible for the information you enter into BuyBrake, including purchase-reflection notes, item names, estimated prices, savings goals, and related content.
BuyBrake may use this information locally to provide app features such as reflection prompts, cooling-off reminders, and progress summaries.
7. App Features and Results
BuyBrake may provide reminders, calculations, summaries, prompts, or insights based on information you enter. These features are provided for convenience and self-reflection only. They may not be complete, accurate, or suitable for your specific circumstances.
BuyBrake does not guarantee that you will save money, avoid purchases, improve financial outcomes, or change spending behavior.
8. Notifications
BuyBrake may offer optional notifications, such as cooling-off reminders or purchase-reflection reminders. You are responsible for managing notification settings on your device.
9. Paid Features, In-App Purchases, and Subscriptions
BuyBrake may offer paid features, in-app purchases, or subscriptions. If you purchase paid features through Apple, billing, renewal, cancellation, and refunds are handled according to Apple's applicable terms, policies, and account settings.
You are responsible for managing subscriptions through your Apple account settings. Deleting the app may not automatically cancel an active subscription.
10. Intellectual Property
BuyBrake, including its design, interface, text, graphics, features, and related materials, is protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, distribute, sell, lease, modify, or create derivative works based on BuyBrake except as permitted by law.
11. Changes to the App
We may update, modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of BuyBrake at any time. We may also add, remove, or change features to improve the app or comply with applicable requirements.
12. Disclaimer of Warranties
BuyBrake is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, accurate, or suitable for your needs.
13. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, savings, goodwill, or business opportunities arising from or related to your use of BuyBrake.
14. Termination
You may stop using BuyBrake at any time. We may suspend or terminate access to BuyBrake if we believe you have violated these Terms or if continued access may create risk, harm, or legal exposure.
15. Apple App Store
If you downloaded BuyBrake from the Apple App Store, your use of the app may also be subject to Apple's applicable terms and policies. Apple is not responsible for providing maintenance or support services for BuyBrake.
16. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date above. Your continued use of BuyBrake after changes are posted means you accept the updated Terms.
